ANTI-RAGGING POLICY

Cultural Society :

Proctorial Board headed by The Chief Proctor, is primarily responsible to ensure that the students of College follow all the framed rules and regulation, in order to maintain a pleasant atmosphere inside the campus.

Students should note that ragging is banned by a ruling of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India. The College makes adequate arrangements to ensure that no incident of ragging takes place. Faculty and staff members are appointed on duty in various buildings and floors, etc. to ensure the same. Anti-Ragging Cell has been formed for this purpose.

Students must not indulge in any such activity that can even be remotely associated with or termed as ragging by any fresher. According to the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India ragging includes “disorderly behavior or treatment with fellow student whether by words, spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating and handling with rudeness any other student, indulging in rowdy or indecent activities, which may cause or is likely to cause physical or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof in a fresher or a junior student”.

As per UGC Regulations on “Curbing the menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions (third amendment), Regulations, 2016” the following shall be addedwhat constitutes to Ragging:-

Any act of physical or mental abuse (including bullying and exclusion) targeted at another student (fresher or otherwise) on the ground of colour, race, religion, caste, ethnicity, gender (including transgender), sexual orientation, appearance, nationality, regional origins, linguistic identity, place of birth, place of residence or economic background.”

Some of the punishments for students directly or indirectly involved in ragging and its abetment are as follows :

  • Cancellation of admission.
  • Suspension from attending classes.
  • Expulsion from the college.
  • Fine up to Rs. 25,000/-
  • Rigorous imprisonment up to 3 years (under the Court of Law).
Discipline :

  • Ensuring a RAGGING FREE Environment.
  • Ensuing that the students to get help in case of any difficulty. Indiscipline or indecent behaviour of any student, Cases of individual /group harassment, threats, manhandling etc.
  • Ensuring the student's presence in the class as per college norms of 75% during the semester and for this HODs & the Class In-Charge are in helping role.
  • Ensure College rules are understood and followed.
  • Ensuring that the student does not indulge in any political activities in the College premises.
  • Ensuring that each student follows the uniform code as per the specified College norms.
